1/ The tracks have brought to the attention of NZDRA the number of repeat offenders involved with oil downs and requested we impose a ruling to minimise these repeat down times. These oil down incidents have been due to: loose valve covers, loose oil lines and in some cases heavy breathing engines. None of these issues could have been contained with nappies (lower containment device) but they are preventable and all take considerable time and resources to clean up and plain boring for the spectators. Get a crew person to go over the whole engine just before you head to the staging lanes, have them check all fittings, covers and overflow containers. The consequences of oiling the track at any meeting will now be: · The first offence will result in the area steward investigating the cause and making a note in your log book. · The second offence will have you disqualified from the event and possibly from further events until you can prove you have solved the problem. 2/ The tracks have also alerted us to the difficulty of cleaning up Glycol. Glycol will not be permitted in any non street driven vehicle. Any vehicle found to leak glycol onto the track will be disqualified. This includes any true street vehicles that use Glycol. 3/ Racers are to alert there crew to rule 2.07. If your vehicle has lost fire or been shut down during the burnout less than 30 metres (100 feet) past the startline they are not to attend the race car until the opponent has made his/her run or the starter has signalled them to do so. |
