At the conclusion of qualifying the Castrol Edge Top Alcohol bracket provided fantastic high speed racing action – and eliminations haven’t even started!  The Marsh Motorsport team again made history with New Zealand’s quickest and fastest time in the sport running a 5.44 at over 262 mph (421 kph!)    Fine weather but a cool racetrack greeted racers who adapted quickly to the warming track. Some notable qualifying passes was the LG Funny Car improving to a 6.05 and Todd Vincent finally breaking the 5 sec barrier with a 5.99 – another Alcohol car in the fives!   Wayne Yearbury in the Wayco Studebaker topped the Doorslammer qualifying ranks with good friend Mark Bardsley second in what was a small field.  Some further great qualifying action was also evident in all the remaining brackets, and with good weather predicted for Sunday’s eliminations, the NZDRA New Zealand Nationals is shaping up to be a fast and furious final day to decide who the best racers in NZ are!
