Masterton Motorplex shakes the ground

Masterton Motorplex

Yes the Earth shook for days after the test and tune at Masterton, some say earthquakes I say horsepower, either way the earth was definatly rumbling. Setting up a new track is no simple task and the team from Masterton Motorplex have delivered a venue to be very proud of. Over two days of racing the new facility provided everything the racers wanted and more, 80 comp cars and a total field of 131 fronted for the event, PBs were being reset all weekend and the track came upto an extremely good surface very quickly, this can only get better with time but has already proven to provide a great surface. Over 3000 spectators had an excellent viewing platform unobstructed for the full length including the run off and return roads. Teams had plenty of room to move even though the grounds are not yet ready, (Bob elected to save the pit area from any damage so it is in perfect condition for the grand opening), at this location it really makes no difference as it works so well.

Congratulations to the MMP team, Bob Wilton leads this team and has done for a long time but it is such a strong and enthusiactic group that have worked so hard to bring this venue through to the success we witnessed in the weekend, Great work team and we look forward to sharing this achivement with you all on opening day.

If you like drag racing you will not want to miss this opening event, put it in your calendar and make plans to be there, you will  not be dissapointed. 15th and 16th February

A special opening dinner is planned for 5.30pm Saturday with tables stretching down the 1/4 mile drag strip, $40 per person, BYO, another great oportunity to get involved and support the team, full details will soon be available on MMP web site
