| IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM SFI FOUNDATION |

Dear SFI Foundation Member:
It has been brought to our attention that a manufacturer currently doing business in Australia and New Zealand has been placing driver protective clothing into the stream of commerce that has not been tested and deemed certifiable to SFI Quality Assurance Specification 3.2A, in spite of that manufacturer's representation to the contrary.
As illustrated in the attached photos, please be advised that the PROTEK label on the suit does not represent a manufacturer, but is the trade name of the wool fabric used in the suit. FAR 25.8538 is not even a garment standard; it is a Federal Aviation Regulation. Most important, a manufacturer's SFI related certification is never allowed to embroidered into the suit. Only a legitimate SFI certification patch attached to the suit is a valid representation of certification.
Because no manufacturer identifiction could be found anywhere on this suit, it is not possible to identify the actual manufacturer. Further investigation is currently underway to identify the manufacturer, to which a "cease-and-desist" order will be directed immediately.
In the meantime, the purpose of this message is to alert all SFI Member Sanctioning Bodies in Australia and New Zealand of this issue, and to remind all parties concerned that only garments displaying a legitimate SFI certification patch can be considered to be properly tested and certified.
As our investigation continues, we will endeavor to keep you posted of any new developments.
Best regards,
CARL V. OLSON
Motorsports Manager
