    Competition

Expressions of interest are sought from racers in competition division to revise the rules to better represent the class today, newer technology and the types of power plant now used.

    Top Street

Expressions of interest are sought from racers in Top Street, and perspective racers from Super Sedan on how to expand the index system with Top Street type vehicles. This increasing competitive vehicles by adding additional classes and set’s of indexes within the same concept. (i.e. auto equipped vehicles have different index from clutch less).

    Top Alcohol

To review parity within Top Alcohol between TA/ classes and A/FD.

Nostalgia Race CarsRegarding Nostalgia DragsterWe would like to run our Super Charged Flathead Front Engine Dragster  on Nitro fuel and stay within the identity of Nostalgia Dragster   i.e.  /ND   We would like to submit the following rule submission / addition to be added to the Competition Division and the Flathead section of Nostalgia Race Car supplementary regulations in the rule book: An addition of AA/FND to cater for a supercharged nitro fuelled Flathead Dragsters. This will keep the integrity of the AA/ND (Alcohol) index in Competition as is for future racers

    Competition Bike

Concept: To introduce a class for stock Harley Davidson V Rod Destroyers.

The proposed rules are similar to those used in the USA for these bikes.

Reason: There is a relatively large number of these bikes and the majority of owners

have bought them as a “turn key race bike” and would like to keep them as

they came from the factory, rather than modifying them.

There is also enough of these bikes that they deserve to have their own set of

rules and index to race in the Comp Bike bracket.

    Junior Dragster

Proposed rule changes concerning the junior  dragster class.

1/ Body  / Chassis    ,Weight to change from NO  minimum weight , Ballast not permitted, to read as follows ,

MINIMUM  WEIGHT  .  minimum weight  ,( without driver or driver apparel  ) of  102 kg  (225  lbs )

BALLEST  ,  Removable ballast is limited to   11.3 kgs  (25 lbs ), Removable ballast must be secured to frame with minimum  one 3/8 inch – diameter bolt per  2.2 kgs (5 lbs )  - weight  or two 3/8”{ inch –diameter bolts for weight of 5 kgs to 11.3 kgs  (10 to 25 lbs )  ,hose clamps, wire strapping, tape , tie wraps, etc prohibited, Ballast must be in the form of  metal plates, bars , bars , straps , etc  ,attached as described above, A steel pipe filled with lead  shot may be substituted, must  have screw –on sealed cap(s), Ballast  prohibited in cockpit, NO  part of ballast may be installed higher than top of rear tyres.

REASONS, the use of ballast and minimum weight cars is allowed by other overseas sanctioning bodies (eg ANDRA. NHRA. IHRA, ) as a way to assist with keeping junior dragsters with in the set ET LIMITS and assist with loading of polar type clutches (USA designed and built cars etc ).all the rules I am proposing are , NHRA. AHRA.IHRA. ANDRA, rules approved in there junior dragster rules 2008.2009.2010.2011.

2/ Proposal to amend the 8.5 ET second limit and amend the wording concerning the implementation of the rule.

Remit, Minimum E.T dial in restricted to 7.90 seconds or slower in the eight-mile, based on either an e.t dial your own or heads up basis, break out rules apply, any qualifying pass made quicker than 7.90 second by a competitor will placed at the end of the qualifying field for that round of qualifying .and any subsequent qualifying pass by that competitor slower than 7.90 seconds will then apply as their best qualifying pass. Eliminations will revert back to the 7.90 ET cut off

For senior junior dragster class only.  1.1/8” main frame rail diameter, NZDRA chassis spec 2010 dated.

Any competitor running quicker than 7.70 ET in the eight- mile or faster than 85.00 mph will be allowed one warning for the event, any competitor running quicker than 7.50 ET in the eight –mile or faster than 89.99 mph at any time during the event will be disqualified from the event

Does the rule protect the safety of participants and spectators?

As the chassis specs have been up rated  last season and minimum starting age up to 7 years last season and up to 8 years this coming season  we are inline with other drag racing bodies  etc (NHRA,ANDRA, )

Reasons why the rule or amendment should be considered, my aim is to keep these young adults interested in the sport, while providing them with more driving challenges in a safe racing environment, we need to better prepare them for racing in adult classes. if our junior dragster racers are losing interest as they approach their street licence age, they may op to step away from legal drag racing at a point in their life where we should be encouraging them to race at the legal, safe venues provided rather than on the street, we need to support and encourage them to respect the rules and dangers associated with driving and encourage them to practice it in a safe and legal environment. I believe the JD racers need to be encouraged to stay in the sport, as many commentators have made comment “these are our Drag Racers of the future, we have lost a lot of the junior dragster racers in the last few years that have lost interest in the sport. These rules should have a minimal impact on the bracket ,as most of the senior cars have tried to slow them up to the 8.50 et ,or sandbagged or slowed  through gearing and throttle stops, sometimes this is successful, other times it is pure frustration. If we were allowed to run along the same times as, USA (NHRA), AHRA, IHRA, ANDRA, this would allow more run times and less trailer time for very disappointed racers. This 7.90 ET rule proposal is a current new rule in Australia (ANDRA) last season. The junior dragster chassis of today are now state of the art in design and construction. Many junior dragster chassis currently racing in Australia and New Zealand are imported from the USA, as new and second hand  purchases at a good value and cost and safety construction, or well build local , this is a dial your own bracket, so the only  advantage is on consistency and safety . Most  8.50 et sec JD’s average a mph of 72-76 mph, while a 7.90 sec JD averages  78-82 mph, so the dangers of racing a 7.90 et car is no greater than racing an over geared  8.50 et sec car . The thrill for the young adults is in the initial acceleration.
