CENTURY BATTERIES NZDRA GRAND FINALS RAINED OUT - POSTPONED TO NEXT SUNDAY - MARCH 9
Wednesday, 02 April 2008
Two days of rain in the upper North Island meant organisers have postponed the Century Batteries sponsored NZDRA Grand Final.
No passes were made on March 1 or 2 as it poured down on Saturday and conditions didn't look much better for the Sunday.
All the hard work by race teams chasing that elusive New Zealand Drag
Racing Championship title will now comedown to next Sunday (March 9th).
But wait - for the disappointed hard core fans out there Saturday
the 8th will include a non compulsory qualifier for all divisions to
ensure competitors have the opportunity to make this event the most
exciting of the NZDRA Championship season.
Saturday`s qualifying will start at 4pm and conclude around 7pm.
Another two qualifiers will be slotted into Sunday's program to make an
action packed weekend.
Some have well and truly nailed the championship down with enough
points secured from previous rounds in the NZDRA National Championship
Series.
Mark Vincent only has to qualify to make his Castrol Edge Top
Alcohol lead insurmountable but there are plenty of other titles ripe
for the picking.
In some of the other NZDRA brackets any of the top three point's
scorers all have a chance to snatch the title away from the leader.
As the adverts say this event will feature the biggest and fastest
Top Alcohol & Doorslammer fields ever seen trying to fill the top 8
spots in each division.
Fram Autolite Dragway is situated approximately 75kms south of Auckland on State Highway 1 at Meremere.
The Century Batteries sponsored NZDRA Grand Finals is the closing
event of the $100,000 NZDRA Drag Racing National Championships.
