For the last few years the sport has appeared to stagnate and in some aspects regressed from the well run sport we once were. Feeling it was an organizational issue possibly from the loss of some key people within our ranks the executive saw the need to update and renew our constitution to fit the changing needs of today’s racers, the roles of tracks, while also meeting the needs of our corporate partners for the betterment of our sport and their involvement within it. The original constitution was written in 1993 and was amended in 2002, it has served the sport well from it’s club based origins but numbers have since swelled to ten times the membership and as most members are no longer within a club structure of which was the focus in the original constitution and much has been lost in today’s more business orientated climate. The existing executive have passed the proposed constitution and it is now up to you the members to vote for the change. Key points to the new constitution are; that it gives more say to racers in regards to issues they feel may concern them, while conversely freeing member tracks to concentrate on their key objectives which should be running bigger, better events and upgrading their venues while also recruiting and up-skilling their workforce. The new board of directors will take a more strategic focus on the sport insuring it has a clear path for exposure and growth throughout New Zealand. This is an important document so please take the time to read it (http://www.nzdra.co.nz/downloads/forms/index.php) and submit your vote for or against this change. There are some opportunities available to our sport which unfortunately cannot happen with the present structure.Due the size and spread of our membership and the need for all to have their say, voting forms will be sent to you to vote For or Against the proposed constitution. Votes should be recived by NZDRA no later than 31st July 2009. Note: Any racers that have allowed their licence (membership) to laps are urged to renew immediately if they wish to have their say as only current members can vote. |
